II.              Public Portion

Laura Toomen, president of the CCOM, thanked the Town Board of its Environmental leadership. She would the Town to consider adding additional money to the budget to add additional funds to implement work from the Hamlet studies.

III.              Topics

A.              Bids - Lisa Valcich

Lisa Valcich discussed a few bids that were accepted recently. She also mentioned that before the next meeting they will be noticing second house after a meeting with Drew Bennett and Bob Heffner.

B.              2018 Tentative Budget Discussion

Len Bernard reported the budget highlights to the Town Board, they included: Three full time positions, in the airport, marine patrol and the building department. The projected total surplus will be $34 million dollars, $1.5 million dollars will be set aside so that it will be available for capital projects. 2 Million dollars will be set aside to start an affordable housing project.

 

Councilman Overton would like to see an additional 10,000 for the fisheries study to possibly help entice additional parties who are interested in this project.

 

Councilwoman Overby would like to see an increase in the money for the Arts Council from $2,000 to $5,000to fund the various programs that they are working on. The Anti-Bias taskforce would also like to request an additional $1,500 to implement the ambassador program.

 

Councilwoman Burke-Gonzalez stated that Project Most is asking for double the amount of money they normally ask from the Town as the grant which funds the operation is expiring in 2018.

IV.              Liaison Reports

Councilwoman Burke-Gonzalez stated that the East Hampton Town Human Services Department is now offering Mindful Meditation in Montauk, on Thursday October 12th, and the 26th at the Montauk Senior Center.

Councilman Van Scoyoc met with the property management committee and they are discussing a Halloween event at the Duck Creek Barn. They are also working on the restoration of the Brook Parks Facilities.  26 Oil paintings were found in the attic of the Springs Library and they are currently looking for a location to store these paintings.

Councilwoman Overby reported that the building permit for the manor houses was submitted last week.  They also discussed draft legislation for houses in commercial zoned areas to allow for more than four unrelated people to live there. Dodson & Flinker is also preparing the Hamlet studies comments with the Town?s Planning Dept.

Supervisor Cantwell discussed some of the Hamlet studies goals, and how some of the goals from this project will take longer to implement. He also reported on an Amagansett CAC meeting from last night who spent time discussing the Amagansett Train station and crossing the road. They would also like to see a stop sign southbound on Indian Wells Highway.
